Been sifting through your catalog. Glad I found this.

Good work.

Had to dock you a stars worth of score for the "vocals." I'm not saying they're bad (ideologically or sonically) but it took away from my experience. I would have enjoyed this more if it were an instrumental.

Flames-of-Industry responds:

Couldn't do it. Even with music being a universal language it can only say so much. I intended for The Reward to make a point with words and music. Without the lyrics there would not be much left of that plan.

First thought: Really? What now? Why the fuck is streaming music skipping like a god damn CD....

Wait....

I see what you did there, asshole. haha it quickly became something other than aggravation after I realized what was going on. I'm not sure if this was intentional but bravo. Got me.

I slightly agree with Deshiel but in a more positive way. I think this track is a moment of time when someone or something is on the brink of something. Perhaps the buildup and the climax deserve their own creative spaces. So for now, I'll enjoy this moment and patiently await part 2. Or considering this is a remix, I'll wait for that deep mix.

Anchorwind responds:

Ha, while funny it was not intentional to give the impression of a skipping CD. I like the thought though. I thought of this for a while, and in many ways, this is Enter The Mother Machine (Deep Mix) in many ways. However, being the perpetual tinkerer, you may just get what you seek someday.

Beautifully played.

Musicious responds:

Many Thanks! :)

I'm loving the slow build. That climb to the top of this expression was definitely the high point of my morning.

Anchorwind responds:

I appreciate your time and review. This format is one I do fairly often in my 'concept sketching:' layer upon layer and tweak upon tweak until I get to where I want to get, then I shorten everything down and mix it all up. For this, I more-or-less un-mixed it and put it back to its simpler form. Perhaps I'll have to release more mixes like this.

What is this? A dense AW track?

Very nice.

Anchorwind responds:

Indeed, and slower this time around but no less heavy I suppose.

The additions are just wonderful. Very nice friend.

1:11 made my pants tight.

BrainLight responds:

If I didn't pop any trouser buttons then I must try harder.

What a lovely surprise. I was convinced that my visual works went unnoticed.

What an emotive and exploratory piece this is. The beginning of this journey into torment, isolation and maddening hunger instantly devoured my interest. The soundscape and lonely piano set a lovely tone.

If feel the longer this track goes, the more optimistic it gets. It hardly forgets where it came from, though. The overall sound never quite sheds itself of its desperation. Which is perfect.

The inspiration is mutual, friend.

Phonometrologist responds:

Regarding your art piece, I've grown more attached to it, and I began to see a key aspect within your work that I was quick to overlook unintentionally. Upon first glance, the lines that suggest motion stood out. I then sought to look around the black spot to see more of the detail of the heart, but I was missing the point. I eventually realized what was intended and that was to portray that hole within the hearts of man. Perhaps that is even why you titled it Famine in parenthesis. The coveting, hunger, and desperation takes hold as when one pursues to fill that void but finds it to be insatiable. I find it to be very accurate, and I can say that by personal experience of my coming to that revelation.
I know the optimistic part does seem a little off after what was heard before it, but I felt that the cadence wouldn’t have as much of an impact without it. Kind of like, how does one know sorrow without a reference. Reminds me of Kahlil Gibran as I quote, “Love knows not its own depth until the hour of separation.” Most would take that to be in context to relationships, but I see it as a whole for the love of humanity. Let’s just call that musical interlude a loss of innocence.
The heart beats until life's end, and mine beats in the hope of its continuance.
Thank you

The review below me (in my opinion) is wrong. But if this were designed to be a melodic piece of music, they would be right on point.

Anyway...

I love the atmosphere. Very brooding. And the percussion gives it just enough energy to cary on without being too much for its minimal nature.

Go you!

Corode responds:

Told you I'd flesh it out.

3.30 at the time of this review?

No. This won't do at all.

It's time to do a bit of campaigning.

Anchorwind responds:

Laugh. No matter, I'm not what the Newgrounds audience views as proper in virtually any way shape or form and we both know it. I'm here for the X% that pays everyone else little heed, the few who feel and are not afraid to.

Change forever.
